Some stuff to fill up the thesis background!

說到Virtual Reality,除了真的健3D模型之外,最方便的要屬Apple的QuickTime VR吧。以Panorama VR來講,把相機放在腳架上,每水平旋轉30度左右拍一張,只要注意水平,曝光不要太不正常。然後把照片放進VR Works這種軟體stitch一下,輕輕鬆鬆就可以有個像樣的360度Panorama VR影片。網路上甚至有影片,教你十分鐘就可以做出一個互動VR影片哪。 但是無論Object VR, Panorama VR或者是更進一步可以上下左右都360度的Cubic VR,這些東西雖然雖然有點過時,但照片拍的好的話,看起來都還不賴。可惜是,當你興奮的推著滑鼠切換視角的時候,其他人確只能在一旁乾瞪眼。
至於另一個技術,就是我有興趣的ARToolKit,雖說也不是甚麼新奇的東西,但是只要沒見過的人,親眼目睹,實際體驗一下,我想仍然會不免有點有莫名的興奮(至少我是拉)。 簡單來說,他是藉由電腦上的攝影機,來辨識被印在紙張上的Marker,找出相對應的3D模型。並將3D模型的結果顯現在螢幕上。妙的是,在螢幕上顯示的3D模型,會隨著紙張上Marker的角度不同,而變換角度,有點難懂對吧?(看影片比較快)

ARToolKit--“ARToolKit is a software library for building Augmented Reality (AR) applications. These are applications that involve the overlay of virtual imagery on the real world.
For example, in the image to the right a three-dimensional virtual character appears standing on a real card. It can be seen by the user in the head set display they are wearing. When the user moves the card, the virtual character moves with it and appears attached to the real object.”

繼續搜尋下去,可以發現這個ARToolKit的程式庫,或者類似結合虛擬與真實環境的概念,已經被發展成很多有趣的Project了。例如:
